Job Description for Software Architect - CI/CD, SW factory, Devops

This position is part of our middleware and DevOps platform in San Francisco.

We’re seeking a highly motivated Software Architect to take the lead on building Aptiv’s next-generation middleware and DevOps platform. Our ideal candidate will show initiative by diving right in and taking the lead to help build a billion-dollar business that helps make everyday activities easier for people around the world.

To succeed in this role, you will need to be hands-on, creative, and persistent and have deep expertise developing innovative solutions for complex system architectures. As a Software Architect, you are responsible for turning roadmap into reality by working with software architects to create a scalable and efficient product. A qualified Software Architect will be able to navigate difficult technical tradeoffs by weighing product priorities and introducing creative solutions. You’ll be part of a new product organization Aptiv has launched and will be at the forefront of transforming the auto industry with cutting-edge technology.

As a Software Architect, you will be responsible for developing the product. You’ll work with Software Architects to translate the product vision into features and with Product Owners and Technical Program Management to execute on development. You’ll need to work with other developers and QA engineers to ensure compatibility and optimization at the system level.

YOUR ROLE

Develop innovative automotive middleware software solutions:

• Carry out requirements engineering, application development, and application testing

• Take responsibility for the execution of standards and processes

• Perform given tasks a focus on quality, time, and results

• Assure proper communication with assigned internal & external stakeholders

• Work in an Agile development team (SCRUM)

Define product architecture requirements and guide engineering

• Work closely with Product Management, Product Owners, and Technical Program Managers to translate product vision into a technical product roadmap

• Derive architecture requirements and ensure scalability and testability for the architectural design

• Define software designs to maximize reusability and execution efficiency and perform Proof of Concept implementation for new designs

• Provide technical leadership by ensuring developers remain aligned with the system architecture and technical roadmap throughout the development process

• Assist developers with code reviews and QA engineers in establishing validation/testing strategies

• Collaborate with cross-system architects to ensure compatibility

• Lead cross-functional teams to rapidly build solutions to critical problems that may arise during the course of the development process

Must Haves (Basic Qualifications):

• Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Electrical Engineering, or related field

• 5+ years of experience in system architecture design for highly available and complex systems

• Familiarity with agile / scrum methodology

• C, C++ programming skills

• Familiarity with Cloud-native technology (microservices, Kubernetes, APIs, etc.) and DevOps, CI/CD

• Demonstrated history of success creating system designs and roadmaps that lead to successful engineering execution and end-product functionality

• Technical leadership expertise with past experiences driving cross-functional collaboration and successfully managing multiple stakeholders

• Ability to engage with developers in deep technical discussions and quickly ingest difficult technical material to identify meaningful takeaways

• Excellent communication / presentation skills and exceptional capability to communicate highly technical concepts to audiences without technical knowledge

Nice to haves:

• Domain expertise in automotive and automotive functional safety requirements (e.g. ISO 26262)

• Extensive understanding of Service Oriented Architecture and POSIX-based embedded systems

• Automotive software development (v-cycle, ASPICE, etc.) and various testing methods (MIL, SIL, PIL, HIL, DIL, fault injection, etc.)

• Familiarity with middleware protocols (e.g. MQTT, DDS, SOME/IP) and communication technologies (e.g. CAN, LIN, FlexRay, and Ethernet)
